MY OLD M16. Eugene Stoner did not fail the soldiers for gifting us with the M16 Rifle. The Philippine Army soldiers are still using this more-than-30 year old gun in its counterinsurgency operations all over the archipelago. In my marksmanship training instructions, I always emphasized that our 'antiquated' Black Rifle is still up to the task of defending this country against terrorists. I also discouraged our soldiers from using the automatic fire mode unless extremely necessary. I brand those trigger-happy guys who prefer the automatic fire as 'nerbiyoso'.
