REAL WORLD self-defense shooting techniques are learned in the IDPA format competitions. This is the reason why I am proposing that this should be part of the advanced pistol marksmanship training for the soldiers. In January 2010, one of my soldiers effectively used his IDPA shooting skills to defend himself and his wounded comrade during an NPA ambush in Donsol, Sorsogon. Wounded in the arm, he used his other hand to shoot the assaulting NPA bandits, killing one and wounding the others. He survived to tell his amazing survival story.
